Guided by International Nursing Leadership

Dr. Muhamud Cheptoek Chemowo holds a PhD in Public Health, an MSc in Health Systems Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Licensed as a U.S. Registered Nurse (Texas) and a Registered Nurse & Midwife in Kenya, he brings over 30 years of progressive clinical and academic leadership across military and university hospitals.

Prior to founding NCLEX Pathway, he served as the principal of the Kenya Defense University Medical College, leading academic programs, curriculum design, and mentorship. His deep understanding of both East-African and North-American healthcare environments makes him uniquely qualified to guide international candidates through complex licensure and immigration loops.

Active Public Health Research

Dr. Cheptoek's scientific studies, published in peer-reviewed journals, address critical healthcare and nursing challenges:

1. Nurse-Led PMTCT Education & HIV Disclosure

In a quasi-experimental study of HIV-positive women in Mombasa County, Kenya, Dr. Cheptoek proved that structured nurse-led PMTCT health-education improved status disclosure. Disclosure rates achieved a 23.1% net improvement compared to the control group (p < 0.0001).

Impact: Highlights the critical power of nurse-led educational intervention in clinical and community settings.

2. Positive Deviance Hearth Model & Child Nutrition

Co-authored a quasi-experimental evaluation in Kilifi County, Kenya, measuring the community-based Positive Deviance Hearth Model. The study assessed over 700 children and recorded a highly significant reduction in child wasting and underweight prevalence in the intervention cohort (p < 0.001).

Impact: Proves that community nursing strategies directly improve public pediatric outcomes.

3. Vitamin A Supplementation Barriers in Somalia

Contributed to a 2024 academic study in the Yaqshid District, Somalia, examining socio-demographic and economic barriers limiting vitamin A uptake in children despite long-standing programs. It advocated for localized nurse training and structural social-health modifications.

Impact: Demonstrates commitment to addressing regional healthcare discrepancies in East Africa.
